Hello everyone! We have a few more rules updates we would like to release before we finally resume our main campaign. For our new players specifically, this update is unlikely to have much effect on you unless you happened to have one of the spells that received changes.

As many of you know, we removed Invention from the game a while back, and discussed how we planned to add a number of items and Qualities to the game in return. Well...here they are! Additionally, we have redone the charts for items and Qualities so that they are easier to categorize and alphabetize. As mentioned in the changelog below, Runecrafting will receive it’s own mini-update adding some items in the near future.

Additionally, this update also includes a Cosmic Power pass as well as a few other unrelated minor clarifications. Some spells that were rarely used have increased in power a bit. A few (notably ones that deliver mastery-in-bind/slows) have been down-tweaked a little. Some instances of the Reduce or Threshold defenses were changed to things like Resists or Dodges, as those defense types are less complicated. Many minor issues were also addressed (references to Unstoppable were changes to True, etc).

If an ability you have changed in a way that you do not enjoy, you may respend into something else without needing to utilize the respend options in Chapter 2.

*Basic Game Concepts
-Added a section which notes that a new game day begins at 7 pm for the purposes of rules mechanics.

*Combat Rules
-Clarified a few things about allowable firearm phys reps, including that Rival blasters may not be used to represent standard firearms.

*Combat Skills
-Crushing 5’s Unyielding Onslaught now gives a +2 bonus to maximum Vitality, to help give Crushing wielders a bit of extra staying power.

*Conditions and Taglines
-Added a little clarifying text to Reduce.
-Made an obscure clarification to Strike; it implies one damage unless a number is included OR if the Mortal/Killing/Mutilating taglines are included.
-Marked all taglines that would be good for a new player to focus on with an asterisk. We will probably expand on this in the future.

*Apothecary Craft List
-Reorganized all of the items into a new table, which can be alphabetized much easier. Unless noted below, this is reorganization only.
-The Oil of Enduring Life now has a cost of 1 instead of 2.
-The Basic Healer’s Kit now has a Completion of 6 instead of 12.
-Added items to the craft list: Greater Panacea, Elixir of Tenacity, Elixir of Might, Elixir of Thaumaturgy

*Artistry Craft List
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-Reorganized in a similar fashion to Apothecary above.
-Enraging no longer increases the Cost Per Action of an art project.
-Martial’s Completion has increased from 3 to 6.
-Added Qualities to the craft list: Calming, Creative, Expressive

*Locks/Traps Craft List
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-Reorganized in a similar fashion to Apothecary above.
-Cheap Locks now only come with one key.
-All Infiltrator Tools can now be created with either Lock or Trap materials.

*Runecrafting Craft List
-Reorganized in a similar fashion to Apothecary above.
-Note: Runecrafting is due for a mini-update in the near future to add more craftable items.

*Smithing Craft List
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-Reorganized in a similar fashion to Apothecary above.
-Noted in Quality descriptions if the Quality can only be added once. Most Qualities can be added multiple times.
-The Sharpening Stone’s Power Strikes are Static.
-Shielded can only be applied to Heavy Armor.
-Specifically noted that a Rapier can be used alongside Thrown Weapons.
-The Secured Quality for shields/bucklers has been replaced with the Enduring Quality.
-Added items to the craft list: Modification Kit, Weighted Head (Quality), Perfectly Balanced (Quality), Heavy Draw (Quality), Myrmidon’s (Quality), Flexible (Quality), Robust (Quality), and Nimble (Quality). These Qualities are generally intended for characters who have significant levels in a particular combat skill.

*Corruptions
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-Augur Fate and Yore’s Reduce effect has been changed to a Dodge effect, which can be used against numerical attacks that don’t include Conditions.
-Sleeping Father’s Protection notes that the exact nature of the holy symbol used is not important; whatever the Father’s symbol was, no one really remembers. It cannot be an obvious item of evil, however.

*FEWS
-Strangling Vine Grasp now defaults to Invoke Short Binds. This can be increased to Invoke Binds by spending 2 Activations instead of 1.

*Gift
-When using card foci, you must display them when receiving any benefit from their associated spell, not when you simply cast the spell.

*Mandates
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-We are keeping an eye on the Formation spells and this sorcery in general. Please submit feedback on it!
-The mandatory casting times for using the Formations have been removed. They now only take as long as it takes to organize the Formation. This is still a Concentration period (see details in the cosmic power).
-Indomitable Phalanx’s Grant Threshold 3 Once Commander’s Order is now Refresh 2 Armor.
-Scattering Wind’s Commander’s Order that allowed them to Purge a Bind or Slow now grants a Bind or Slow Resist.
-Augury of the War Shrine can now be used additional times per event, dependent on Mastery (successive uses decrease the effective Mastery of the spell).

*Mystic Arts
-Maelstrom’s Swirling Wrath’s option to Invoke Parry can be used on ranged Strike attacks that deal 5 damage or less.

*Moxie
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-The Vitality bonus from Positive Luck explicitly states that it stacks with all other bonuses.
-The Vitality bonus from Drifter’s Last Chance is now a flat +2, so long as your Luck is Neutral or Positive.
-Our Own Little Guardian Angel specifies that you take both the Condition and Duration when helping a friend, and that the Duration resets.

*Sacred Words
-Thy Blessed Pyre still requires you to hold a wand for the packet version, but not a wand and nothing else.
-Thy Ceremony of Opening mentions twice that doing an elaborate and cool ceremony will result in the revived party recovering faster.
-Thy Immortal Monoliths now helps you recover your Charges faster, and can aid certain magical effects cast within it (generally magical Freestyle Sciences).
-Thy Gilded Flesh’s Threshold X against a fire effect is now a Resist, but it is otherwise basically the same.
-The ranged weapon defense from Thy Wings of Boundless Celerity can now be given once per Rest, not once per day.

*TAC
-Minor clarifications (grammar, etc).
-Localized Time Manipulation now defaults to Tech Short Slows. They can still be thrown as Tech Slows at a cost of 2 Activations instead of 1.
