Gideon's Paparazzi Mob - Investigation Notes

Post by Bailey-Jordan »

Feel free to contribute any information I might have missed.

Overview: Gideon had seen a group of people taking pictures of him on Black Friday while he fought remnants of the Herald's forces, and they seemed more interested in him than the combat.
  • Diplomacy lore: Were they monetizing Gideon's operation?
Absolutely, and they don't run feel-good stories.
  • Universal insight: What was the story/what will the story be?
Either a scandal or straight news.
  • Diplomacy lore: What serves them better?
Not sure.
  • Arcane philosopher: Should we expect a follow-up encounter?
No, it doesn't fit the narrative.
  • Academics lore: Who's running this?
MMN (Mage Media Network, a Corp)
    • Digression: What are they going to want?
To make the principalities look worse, but it was also spur of the moment instead of planned.
  • Basic academics: Would offering an interview be good?
Yes, however they like "gotcha" opportunities.
  • Universal insight: Would tapping into lingering hatred for the Herald help?
No. He's dead, therefore old news.
  • Universal insight: Would running a counter scoop be effective?
Kind of, but we know that pre-fight talks between Corps are common.*
  • Basic insight: What would happen if Gideon leaned into it?
That would get the effect he wants.
  • Universal insight: How will the above affect Beacon?
Friction with other Principalities groups, ostracizing them on official levels.**
  • Head in the Clouds: What is the right balance?
They are looking to paint someone as a second Herald, so we could find someone else to fit the bill.
  • Universal insight: What would it take to not run the story?
A truthful and thorough investigation on 3rd Captain Veron Xispatic.
  • Universal insight: How much time before the story runs?
One or two gathers.

*This would imply that you could stage a story where both sides would win, though of course you would need to have a middle ground for something like that, and it didn't seem as though there was much that was able to be given up.

**Only public-facing, not under the table. More of a "we can't be seen helping you in public" punishment than war.
