Operation Noontide Extraction

Setting Information

At this event (part two of a three-part series) attendees will play as soldiers of the Republic of Anduine sent on a dangerous mission to the world of MAR-0N-372 to retrieve their fallen allies. It is here they will discover ancient secrets and fight back the hordes of Metacoleopterids, insect-like creatures who threaten to pour into the Garden.

X00 years in the future, the Republic of Anduine has begun to explore other worlds. One such world, known as MAR-0N-372, contains a threat so deadly that the Republic left, thinking never to return….until the monsters followed them home.

It has been some time since the soldiers of Operation: Dawn Interdiction left to try to contain the Metacoleopterid infestation. These soldiers missed their check in, and the Republic authorities have decided to send a final squad with a singular goal – to recover the bodies of the fallen and get back asap. Thus begins Operation: Noontide Extraction.

This is a special one-shot event brought to you by the staff of Garden of Destinies. We will be using most of the same game system as Garden of Destinies, but with a few rules changes as detailed in the documents below.  Melee combat will be extremely rare and entirely unavailable to Player Characters; instead, it will take place almost entirely with Nerf Rival Blasters. Soldiers of the Republic have seven new Combat Skills to use against the Metacoleopterid threat.

Event Q&A

  • Question: Do I need to have attended Part 1 in order to play Part 2?
    • Answer: Not at all! There is an in-game reason for new characters to show up. New characters will be part of a squad of soldiers tasked with Operation Noontide Extraction.
  • Question: Are there specific costuming requirements?
    • Answer: You want to try to come up with someone that sets your character part, but the costuming guidelines for this game are not too rigorous otherwise. We recommend military-esque clothes with purple accents, since purple is the Republic military color. Otherwise, just be creative and do your best! You can also see a selection of photos from part one below.
  • Question: Do we need to bring our own ammo? If so, what kind and how much?
  • Question: Should we make characters that have ties to other player characters? If so, what’s the best way to set that up?
    • Answer: You can absolutely create your own backstories that involve other PCs, provided that both people agree. Military structure encourages cooperation and intermingling for increased capability and morale. Take care to not make decisions for other players about their character’s history without their input, as everyone wants to make the character they are playing their own. The best way to set that up is to ask in the Discord if anyone wants to collaborate.
  • Question: How is this event different than a normal GoDs game?
    • Answer: Typical GoDs events are more campaign style, and thus follow a more serialized storyline. The Mar-0n one-shot events are instead episodic, with (mostly) self-contained stories.
